Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Riven's website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.
Description of Service
Riven provides professional services for UK tradespeople, including booking pages, invoice management, expense tracking, and Making Tax Digital (MTD) quarterly submission tools. Our platform allows tradespeople to create online profiles, showcase their work, list services, accept bookings from customers, and submit quarterly income and expense returns to HMRC.
Account Registration
To use certain features of our services, you must register for an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Upload false, misleading, or fraudulent information
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Interfere with or disrupt the service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Use the service to send spam or unsolicited messages
Payments and Billing
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly basis. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. You can cancel your subscription at any time, and cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period.
Payment processing fees (Stripe's standard fees) apply to transactions processed through the platform. We do not charge commissions on your bookings.
Promotional Discount: A launch discount of up to 25% is available on all subscriptions until 31 May 2026 (Starter saves 20%, Pro saves 25%). The discount applies to the subscription price at the time of checkout. If you cancel your subscription and resubscribe after the promotional period, the standard rate will apply. Additional promotion codes may be applied at checkout for further savings.
Making Tax Digital (MTD)
Riven's MTD feature is available on Pro tier subscriptions only. By connecting your HMRC account and using the MTD feature, you agree to the following:
You are responsible for the accuracy of your data
Riven submits to HMRC the income and expense figures recorded in your Riven account. You are responsible for ensuring those records are accurate and complete. Riven is a software tool, not a tax adviser. We do not review, audit, or validate your figures. If you are unsure whether your records are correct, consult a qualified accountant before submitting.
HMRC credentials
By connecting your HMRC account, you authorise Riven to submit quarterly updates to HMRC on your behalf using your Government Gateway credentials. You can revoke this authorisation at any time by disconnecting your HMRC account in the Tax settings page. Riven stores your National Insurance number (NINO) and HMRC OAuth tokens in encrypted form — see our Privacy Policy for details.
Fraud prevention
HMRC requires all MTD software to collect and transmit fraud prevention headers with every API call. By using the MTD feature, you consent to Riven collecting device context data (device identifier, browser details, screen dimensions, local IP addresses) and transmitting it to HMRC as required by their Transaction Monitoring specification.
Record retention
HMRC requires digital records to be retained for 6 years. Submission records (income totals, expense totals, and HMRC correlation IDs) cannot be deleted for 6 years following the relevant tax year, even if you cancel your subscription or close your account. You may export your records at any time from your Tax dashboard.
Limitations
Riven supports sole trader income and expenses for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD ITSA). It does not support VAT returns, partnership income, property income, or other income sources. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet all HMRC obligations and that Riven is appropriate for your tax situation.
Content Ownership
You retain ownership of the content you upload to Riven (photos, descriptions, etc.). By uploading content, you grant us a license to display it on your public profile and for promotional purposes.
Refunds & Cancellations
Subscriptions
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain access to paid features until then. We do not offer prorated refunds for unused time on monthly or annual plans. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at support@riven.page.
Deposits & Invoice Payments
Deposits and invoice payments are collected on behalf of tradespeople. Refund decisions are at the discretion of the tradesperson. Tradespeople can issue refunds from their dashboard. Refunds are returned to the customer's original payment method and typically take 5-10 business days to appear.

Limitation of Liability
Riven is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services.
We do not guarantee any specific results from using our platform. Bookings, payments, and customer relationships are between you and your customers.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
